My sister and I saw the Arctic Monkeys at Central Park. This is how I feel about it.

Before I get into my flaily review, let me just get the boring ole productive thing out of the way. Here it is.

It's a monkey wearing a parka. Because it's cold in the arctic. Shhh just take it.

Okay now that that’s done, let’s move on to the review.

It was fantastic. End of review.

Have some shaky videos!

The first song was “A View from the Afternoon.” Notice at about the 42 second mark where the video suddenly goes black? That’s the moment I got hit by a mini wall of death. For those who don’t know what a wall of death is, click here. It was only a few people so it wasn’t that bad.

“I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor.” I think it was right after this song that a wayward crowd surfer kicked me in the face. It was awesome.

“When the Sun Goes Down” was one of the songs in the encore. It was my favorite out of everything. And the audience was amazing and fun and friendly and gaaaaaah it was a very very good night overall.

Oh and take a look at this.

Drummer Matt Helders has been known to have random slogans written on his drum skin in electric tape. The most notable ones are "The Funk Might Fracture Your Nose," "Guilty Feet Have Got No Rhythm" and "Agile Beast." This time though, he has a photo of what looks like frontman Alex Turner relaxing on a bear skin rug. Things like this kill me and I don't know why.

But my favorite part of the entire night happened before the Arctic Monkeys even got on stage.

You see, there comes a time in every man’s life (I’m so tempted to not continue this sentence for inside joke purposes but I shall forge ahead) when one just doesn’t like what they hear on the radio anymore. I thought I had reached that point (with me clinging to bands that I listened to in high school and college like Weezer and Jimmy Eat World and Foo Fighters) until very recently when I started listening to the radio again after, what, 5 years? And I find that I still really like radio. And I had discovered new bands that do not annoy me or aren’t too hipster or weird. Bands that have catchy choruses and songs that I can dance to.

One such band is The Vaccines. I recently linked a couple of my friends to one of their songs because I liked it enough to enter said song into infinitelooper.com so I could listen to it over and over for an entire day. I get like that with songs. Don’t judge.

Anyway. THEY WERE THE SURPRISE OPENING ACT FOR THE ARCTIC MONKEYS. Well, it was a surprise to me because I got the Arctic Monkeys tickets a couple of months ago with no knowledge of who was going to open for them. And then The Vaccines get on stage and I just freaked. The fuck. Out. In my head. Not outwardly. Because I’m a proper lady. Anyway. Here’s a video.

It made me so happy that when we were leaving after the concert and we passed the booth where they were selling Arctic Monkeys merchandise, I got a Vaccines t-shirt. Here it is!

It is so soft and it makes me happy.

That is all!

See you later, innovator!

Hahaha see what I did there? (In case you don’t, those are lyrics from the Arctic Monkeys song “Brianstorm.” I’m so clever sometimes.)
